Located in a dense urban fabric in one of the busiest commercial nodes of Ahmedabad, this center strives to serve as a shelter from the noise and a buffer from the daily. ‘Urban Community Development Center’ works just as it is named, a community center pertaining to the needs of the surrounding development or lack thereof and providing with opportunities for the prosperity in this urban hell.

Starting with the understanding of basics - the four levels of Access: open, semi-open, semi-closed and closed; this design started with the arrangement of functional aspect and emerged into a space welcoming all and filling one with warmth.
basic distribution model
The creation of a space that talks with one in a language personal to them as well as common to all. The role of the used forms and the type of system in the formulation of space is based on the play of light and the amount of light inside a predesigned 'unit' varying according to function.
Materiality of this community center is expressed in subtle greys through the usage of basalt stone walls and concrete. The concrete fins play an important part in the given circulation and the creation of smaller pockets for recreation of relaxation. thus, this center is not just a place you would visit for work, but one you'd accept as your own and love visiting.
