A load-bearing monolithic structure derived from pure geometry - this studio deals with solving problems of architectural value with methods of multiplication. A systematic arrangement of 12 units using the laws of pure physics to support the curvilinear roof are the given parameters. The final structure is then perceived with calculation and form study using clay.

initial axonometric
From choosing the base shape as a rectangle to deriving what form of the roof suit's the arrangement the most - this studio focused on materiality - brick. The execution of the laws of physics were derived from the creation of stable monolithic clay models by the method of 'carving out' material. The method of 'subtraction' is of more importance of here that the regular method of 'addition' - the art of building bottom to top.
The takeaway here is to keep one's mind open to new ways of creating space - sometimes it's more of a generative process than an imaginative one.
The sections on the left show different carving results - the only 3 successful ones which may further help for the transference of load to the earth.
